Our Mission:
Forming a people through Christ to glorify Him everywhere.
What we do...
Our work is calling people out from society and calling them together to be transformed with Christ and each other, in community, in relationships. Our work is working with God in shaping this people, both by adding new disciples and helping all of His people to live as Christ in our world.
How we do our work...
The main work is God's. He creates, He saves, He judges. He builds His church. But He invites us to work alongside Him, with Him, through Him. We do this people-forming work in Christ and through Him.
Why we do this work...
As a church, our activity is not simply exalting God but gathering and leading people to do this, together, at home, as individuals. We work with God and with people for His ultimate glory.
Where we do our work...
Our work is to impact every part of the individual's life, every part of our body life, every part of our community, and every part of our world. "Everywhere" makes our work vast but also inspiring, driving us to depend on God as we work together.
Portrait of a People
Our work at Blanchard is partnering with God to form His people. But what does a formed people look like? The church is the Body of Christ, and therefore should conform to the image of Christ our Lord. This portrait includes six facets of a formed people, each flowing from the character of Christ. Ultimately we seek to form the people of God around these six facets so that we might worship our God and glorify Him in all that we do.
Communing with God
Jesus lived and served in perpetual dependence upon His Father (John 5:19). As His people we also must learn to commune intimately with God and live in dependence upon Him. We do this through spiritual disciplines like prayer, fasting, solitude, baptism, and corporate worship gatherings.
Obeying God’s Instructions
Jesus held scripture to be authoritative, and conformed His teaching and life to its commands (Matthew 4:4). In the same way we submit to God’s Word as the final authority in matters of faith and practice, and seek to conform our community to its instruction.
Uniting in Christ
Jesus exists in unity with the Father and Holy Spirit (John 17:21), and desires for His people to also be unified in Him. The mystery of our unity in Christ is expressed through relationships with one another, fellowship, and overcoming the social barriers of our culture.
Serving as Gifted
Jesus declared that He came not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45). The Spirit has given everyone in the Body of Christ different gifts to be used in service to others. Like our Lord we desire to develop these gifts in order to glorify God and serve others.
Healing our World
Jesus revealed the arrival and nature of His kingdom through compassion for the broken and marginalized (Matthew 11:2-6). We are called to also reveal Christ’s kingdom in our actions as we show compassion and seek justice in our world.
Going as Sent-Ones
Jesus was sent by the Father and took on flesh in order that He might love and save rebellious people. As the Father has sent Him, Jesus now sends us (John 20:21). Motivated by love we want to reach the lost in our community and around the world.
