Men of Blanchard Purpose Statement
To worship God by submitting all that we are and all that we have. To use Christ centered programs and activities to encourage and hold each other accountable to spiritual growth while reaching out to each other, our church, and our community.
Discipleship Opportunities
Several opportunities for discipleship in small groups are offered mornings on a weekly basis. The options are:
6:15 A.M. every other Tuesday morning. Contact Bill Snyder at 630-510-7682 - 6:30 A.M. Thursday mornings. This study looks at myths and misconceptions we have that hold us back from spiritual growth and steals our joy. New members welcome. Contact Al Huizinga at 630-876-8442 .
- 6:30 A.M. Friday mornings. This group is discussing the book we were encouraged to read during the Beyond campaign. Contact Dana Wheeler at 630-690-8022 .
- 7:30 A.M. Saturday mornings. This group uses this book for discussion and prayer. Contact Frank Nicholas at 630-340-5893
SWEAT Teams
"SWEAT" (Serving with Enthusiasm and Teamwork) is the new platform for the men's ministry at Blanchard. There is a large unmet need in our church for many simple yet critical tasks which require some "SWEAT". Following are key areas of need:
- PERSISTERS (single moms ministry). Help entertain kids while their moms attend their support group twice a month, on the first and third Thursday, from 6:30-8 P.M. at the church.
- Greeters. Have a smile and a handshake? You would be perfect as a greeter! Every Sunday we need people to greet people as they arrive.
- Ushers. Ushering is a great opportunity to serve, especially for people (men or women) with time constraints. Two co-head ushers as well as six door ushers are needed for each service.
- Communion Preparation. Communion is provided monthly in both Wheaton and Warrenville. The Communion prep team sets up for communion in Wheaton on Sunday morning at 9:00 A.M. and on Sunday morning in Warrenville. Sunday responsibilities include replenishing the communion supplies between services (Wheaton only) and cleaning the trays after service is over (both locations).
- Sunday Coffee Stewards. Ever grab a hot cup of coffee on Sunday? Well, somebody has to make it, ya' know! This has been done for many years almost single handedly. Arrive at 7:15 A.M. and follow the instructions. Keep supplies and carafes filled between the services.
- Movers. We get approximately 6 requests per year for moving assistance. Take a Saturday morning and engage your teenagers to serve another family. Coffee and donuts provided! Already have an active team of 12, but can always use additional muscle!
- Handymen. We have a single mom currently with a stove that hasn't worked for a month. There are additional requests that get handled ad-hoc or just aren't handled at all. This is an important team and we need someone to take the role as team leader, and the more handymen that sign up the easier it will be to respond.
